A new Dragon Ball video game project is set to be announced in late January 2026. The reveal will take place during a special event celebrating the iconic franchise’s 40th anniversary.
As confirmed on X by the official series anime profile, the new game project will be announced during the “Dragon Ball Genkidamasturi” event on January 25, 2026. The event, held at Makuhari Messe in Chiba, Japan, will also feature discussion panels, other announcements, and high-profile guests.
Confirmed attendees include Masako Nozawa (the legendary voice actress for Goku), Akio Iyoku (executive producer for the franchise), and Hironobu Kageyama, the composer and singer behind the series’ most iconic opening tracks like “Cha-La-Head-Cha-La” and “We Gotta Power.”
Why This Announcement is So Anticipated

As of now, Bandai Namco has not confirmed any details about this new project, making speculation difficult but intriguing. The Dragon Ball franchise already has multiple successful games that are still actively receiving new content and updates.
This includes the popular fighting games Dragon Ball FighterZ and the recently released Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO, the action-RPG Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot, the asymmetrical survival game Dragon Ball: The Breakers, and the ever-present mobile games Dokkan Battle and Legends.
Hyping up a new game announcement this far in advance wouldn’t make sense for a minor project or just another fighting game. With the main genres already well-represented, there is a solid chance this announcement could be for something unique and unexpected, perhaps exploring a new genre for the series.
This will also be one of the first major game announcements for the franchise since the sad passing of its creator, Akira Toriyama, last year, making it an opportunity to properly celebrate his enduring legacy.
