DC’s “Absolute” universe, an alternate reality forged by Darkseid’s energy where heroes lose their classic advantages and face brutal odds, is about to reintroduce one of its most iconic villains. After months of mystery, the definitive look for Poison Ivy has finally been revealed.
From “Isley Ecosystem” to Human Form
In this world, Bruce Wayne isn’t a billionaire with infinite resources, but a working-class civil engineer who uses raw tools to fight crime. His villains, consequently, are more complex and often more terrifying reflections of their original counterparts.
Keen readers of Absolute Batman had already spotted the villain’s presence earlier. During Bruce’s attempted escape from the “Ark M” prison, he was attacked by the so-called “Isley Ecosystem,” an entity that screeched “The Green wants out!” while manifesting as a sentient, living forest.
Now, thanks to an exclusive variant cover revealed by artist Björn Barends, we know what Pamela Isley will look like when she assumes her human form in issue #17. The art, keeping with the series’ dark and almost horror-like tone, shows an Ivy that blends lethal beauty with disturbing organic elements, moving away from the classic “femme fatale” image toward something more primordial.
The issue, penned by the acclaimed Scott Snyder and Nick Dragotta, promises to deepen her connection to this new Batman.
Release: Absolute Batman #17 hits US shelves on February 11. The Barends cover will be sold exclusively through East Coast Comics.
