Get your horses ready: Part 7 of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, the critically-acclaimed Steel Ball Run, has been officially announced. At a Warner Bros. Japan and David Production event, the next saga of the anime received its first teaser trailer and a release window of 2026.
The explosive teaser shows off the story’s insane premise: a wild, cross-country horse race across the United States in the year 1890. The plot follows Johnny Joestar, a paraplegic ex-jockey, and the mysterious Gyro Zeppeli, as they compete for a $50 million grand prize.
A Reboot for the JoJo Universe
Steel Ball Run is not just Part 7; it is a complete reboot of the JoJo universe, introducing new versions of beloved characters and concepts. The saga is frequently cited by manga fans as the best part of Hirohiko Araki’s entire body of work, praised for its complex narrative, deep characters, and stunning art. The return of studio David Production (responsible for all previous seasons) was met with relief by fans, ensuring continuity in the adaptation’s quality.
A Return to “Netflix Jail”?
Following in the footsteps of Part 6, Stone Ocean, the Steel Ball Run anime will be a global Netflix exclusive. This news has generated both excitement and apprehension.
The core concern for fans is the release model. Stone Ocean was released in three “batches” of episodes, with months of waiting in between. This “Netflix jail” format was widely criticized for killing the weekly hype and community discussion that defined JoJo’s popularity. It has not yet been confirmed if Steel Ball Run will follow the same batch model or adopt the weekly release schedule that Netflix has been testing with other anime.

Alongside the teaser, the main voice cast was revealed:
- Shogo Sakata as Johnny Joestar
- Yohei Azakami as Gyro Zeppeli
- Kaito Ishikawa as Diego Brando

- Kenta Miyake as Steven Steel
